Natural rubber (chemical name is polyisoprene) is a raw material produced from latex, which is from many rubber tree species around the world in tropical regions. It is not a synthetic polymer alternative like vulcanized rubber or silicone rubber. However, natural rubber is still used today for different applications, just not buttons. Since there are many other different types of synthetic rubber, we will cover vulcanized, silicon and PVC rubber only, which are known to be used for buttons.
