Fabric buttons can be anything from furniture buttons, DIY button kits from the notion stores, thread buttons (Dorset, Crochet, etc.) or textile artisans who use all sorts of techniques manipulating thread and decorating with embellishments such as beads. Therefore, by just throwing these buttons into the clothes washer is not recommended.
NEVER rub or brush even if fabric or thread seems strong; thread can be brittle in either especially with age. There are many thread buttons that were made on forms made from wood, shell, and other materials.
Bleach can be an effective stain remover and deodorizer, but it can damage delicate fabrics and remove dye from colored cloth. Do not recommend bleach.
So let us classify fabric buttons into 2 categories. Textile buttons with embellishment (including fabric art) and textile buttons without embellishments.
