Avocado pit (or stone) is a fruit seed and like vegetable ivory (VI) are very dense natual materials. Both are treated the same when it comes to cleaning.

An avocado pit button is a piece of art created by carving the pit of an avocado.

Recommend Cleaning Method

It is important to know these seeds could be dyed and while cleaning that dye might come off especially with a wet cloth. Take care and when in doubt, don't wash. If the button is painted just dust the grim off as best you can.
Do not use products that contain petroleum, alcohol or mineral oils, harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, and soaking in water as it can damage the button over time.
Dust using a soft cotton cloth or cotton swab. Jewelry cloth is not recommended because it might contain chemicals to affect this natural material.
Can use soft brush or to remove grim.
If dusting alone is not enough, clean with water and mild soap such as Ivory Snow or Orvus WA Paste Cleaner. The surface should remain damp for only a few seconds.

Avoid soaking buttons in any fluids including water.
Clean only a small area at any one time by just dampening the surface.
Rinse with cloth soaked with only clean water to remove the soap.
Wipe dry immediately.
